Notes: Genus of at least 1100 species. This fast growing, drought resistant Acacia makes a good shade tree for the garden. It attracts bees and insects. The tree has long, straight white thorns, in pairs. Sickle-shapes pods follow the sweetly-scented golden-yellow puffball-shaped flowers which bloom intermittently all Summer. It is a host to various butterflies. It attracts a multitude of insects and therefore also attracts many birds. The roots are nitrogen fixers and make this tree ideal for planting on disturbed and poor soils. Propagate from seed soaked in boiling water over night.
