Notes: Genus of one species. It is sometimes called Elephant wood as it was first prized for its hard timber rather than its flowers. The attractive bunches of flowers are followed by thin, oblong pods borne in clusters. Grow this graceful, drought resistant tree in moderately fertile, well-drained soil. If given good soil and sufficient water, it is fairly fast growing. It makes an ideal avenue tree with its wonderful shape and attractive foliage. Young seedlings must be transplanted with care and protected from frost. Propagate from seed.
