Notes : The crown of grey-green irregularly lobed leaves is produced on top of an often crooked or curving, sturdy trunk which makes it a particularly fine form or single accent tree for a small garden. Prefers an open situation in fairly fertile well-drained soil with a dry Winter. Is drought and wind resistant. May be evergreen in milder climates. Bark is rough and corky. Small flowers attract many insects. The small, round, fleshy fruits are purple when ripe and are eaten by a variety of birds. Fruiting begins at about eight years. Easily propagated from seed.
