Notes : Genus of 6 species. Fast growing. Wind and drought resistant. The stiff, strap-shaped dark green leaves are about 1 metre long. Bears white flowers with orange and mauve markings on long stems. Flowers for many months in Summer. Mass plant under trees. Looks particularly graceful next to a rocky pool or stream. Does best if watered regularly during Summer. Propagate from seed sown in September or by dividing up large clumps. Self seeds freely. More tolerant of poor soil and drought than Dietes bicolor.
