Notes : May be evergreen under favourable conditions. Large, thorny shrub to small tree with waxy, pale green leaves and cream to green insignificant flowers. These are followed by edible deep yellow fruits in autumn. This dense, spreading shrub makes an excellent hedge and, if given protection, will grow in areas with moderate frost. It loves sandy, well-drained soil. Not grown for its flowers, but rather its large orangy fruits that are very attractive and make good jams and jellies. Propagate from very fresh seed.
