Notes : Tolerant of more frost than other Euphorbia species. Thrives in a rockery in a warm, dry area. May also be grown as a container plant, preferably against a hot sunny wall. Thorns occur on the stem. The red fruit capsules are produced in rows on the ridges of the branches. Withstands extended periods of drought, but can also tolerate high rainfall provided the drainage is good. Propagate from seed or from cuttings. If the latter option is chosen, the cuttings should be allowed to dry in a cool, shady spot for two to three days to prevent rot. These plants are often confused with Cacti. An easy test is to cut the plant - if it excudes a clear, watery liquid, it is a Cactus - if a thick, white latex oozes out, then it is a Euphorbia.
