Notes : Genus of 300 to 400 species mainly grown for their foliage. Densely tufted perennial grass with narrow, smooth leaves. Makes perfect little mounds or cushions of glaucous grass. In early to mid-Summer bears spikelets of violet-hued blue green flowers. Grow in the front of a border or in a rock garden. Not a true groundcover, but a dramatic effect is achieved by using pebbles in-between the plants. Will tolerate poor to moderately fertile, dry well-drained soil. Divide and replant every 2 to 3 years to maintain foliage colour. Propagate by dividing clumps in Autumn or Winter. Pests and diseases: trouble-free.
