Notes : Genus of about 800 species. This dense, spreading shade tree is lush throughout the year. Although tolerant of light to moderate frost, it grows better in fairly warm to hot, moist regions and does particularly well along the coast, as it is wind resistant. Not well-suited to cold, dry inland areas. Prefers fairly fertile soil and should be well watered until established. The sturdy, erect stems are covered in grey bark. An ideal subject for training into a standard. Clip at any time of the year. Its neat, tidy growth habit makes it ideal to grow in containers.
