Notes : Genus of about 20 species. Vigorous and easy to grow - can become invasive. Bushy, clump-forming perennial. The soft and dainty flower spikes of pinkish buds open to short-lived, irregularly star-shaped white flowers. Grow this graceful, showy plant in clumps to lighten up the back of a border. Plant in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Will tolerate partial shade. Cut back after flowering and divide the clumps in Autumn or Spring if this becomes necessary. Can be grown in most regions, but is not suited to very dry conditions or to very hot, humid situations. Although tolerant of quite dry conditions, it should be well-watered during very dry spells in Summer. Pests and diseases: trouble-free.
