Notes : Genus of about 50 species. A tufty, clump-forming, grass-like perennial with long, narrow, deep green leaves, which are glossy. Taller flower spikes with white to lilac blooms are followed by blue berries in Summer. Plant in composted, moist soil. Useful plant for sloping areas or damp shady places where it is difficult to establish lawn. In moist, cool areas, this plant can be grown in full sun, but in hotter and drier situations it will do better in semi-shade. It is closely related, but is more robust than Ophiopogon japonicus.
