Notes : The drought-resistant firethorn is evergreen under favourable conditions. Can be pruned to form a hedge or the lower branches pruned to form a tree. The dark brown bark sometimes bears strong thorns. It has velvety foliage and bears small yellow flowers from October to January. Small red, roundish fruits are borne in large quantities and are loved by wattled starlings, red-eyed bulbuls and other birds. Grow from seed.
