Notes : A fast-growing, drought resistant indigenous perennial which bears round heads of small mauve flowers on long stalks in summer. Smells like garlic, but not overpowering. It's relative Tulbaghia simmerli does not smell like garlic. Plant in small groups in a rockery or as a groundcover in narrow spaces where lawn is impractical. Can also be used as an edging plant along a pathway. Plant in good, well-drained soil adding plenty of compost. Although it will tolerate poor soils, it will not grow as well. Water regularly in spring and summer, less in winter. Grow from seed, or divide large clumps.
